11:15 12:15 Update on the World Summit
on the Information Society
The objective of the World Summit on the Information Society
(WSIS) is to formulate a common vision and understanding
of the global information society. It is expected to adopt
a Declaration of Principles and an Action Plan to facilitate
the effective growth of the Information Society and to help
bridge the digital divide. Women's Groups and Gender and
ICT advocates have been very active in the WSIS process
to date - partciularly at the regional and global levels
- but in what ways is the WSIS relevant to women in the
UK - and how they can become involved in the process?
